Artist Bio

Illegal Musik has its own soul diva in Erakah: with her classical training and childhood background in the church choir, she brings class and heart in one tight package. Her personal style of song writing and Illegal’s deft pop fusion of jazz, gospel and contemporary R&B (via prolific producer N.O.X. of J.Williams and Junipah) is clearly evident on her debut single, “Infatuated”.

The New Zealand soundscape is about to be elevated to new heights with soul temptress, Erakah. Her ability to alternate between raw power, smooth sensuality and casual virtuosity are bound to captivate audiences. Needless to say her musical influences the likes of Lily Allen, Keri Hilson and Beyonce have helped her flavour her own style.

Erakah has played on the live circuit for a number of years either as a solo performer or part of a live band. These years performing live have given her invaluable experience to launch her own musical career. Now, signed to homegrown label Illegal Musik under the direction of Patriarch & Hard Work who shaped the rise of J. Williams.

"Day & Night" is the latest single from femme fatale Erakah. A futuristic urban-electro-pop track that is bound to move bodies. When it came down to finding a feature for the track, Australian based UK rapper JR caught the attention of Illegal Musik’s production house – whose presence added another dimension to the song. Day & Night explores the intricacies of relationships and centres around the tension between two people. Regardless of how much effort is put into it, it doesn’t always work out.
