k.d. lang Performs 'Hallelujah' At The Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony

‘Few singers command such perfection of pitch. Her voice, at once beautiful and unadorned and softened with a veil of smoke, invariably hits the middle of a note and remains there.’ – New York Times

‘One of the sexiest, most sensual voices in all of pop music.’ – The London Times ‘The best singer of her generation.’ – Tony Bennett

Canada’s own k.d. lang made Olympic gold on Friday night when she performed Leonard Cohen’s “song of peace”, ‘Hallelujah’, for a live audience of 60,000-plus and some three billion television viewers the world over at the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games at BC Place stadium in Vancouver. In a performance that was the undoubted highlight of the ceremony for many, the Vancouver Sun said lang ‘reminded the world that she is one of the best in the business, with a stirring, spiritual rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ that literally hushed the crowd.’ The Province echoed, ‘lang stole the show with a dynamic, impassioned ‘Hallelujah’.’
